ZVL Champs Crowned!

With the last point decided at 11:42 p.m., the Zia-Victory Lanes Volleyball League came to a close with first and second place trophies awarded in each of four age groups. Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all who came out this summer. For a list of the winners, you don't have to search like Jessica below, just click on the ZVL link to your left.

 

All Zia Final at 16's Beach confirms Beach Might

Katie Rutherford and Holly Pavoggi topped Leah Bradley and Megan Rhoades in an all-Zia final at the 4th Arizona Region Junior Beach tournement held on June 28th at Victory Lanes.

Pavoggi and Rutherford won their first tournament together this season, and the win put Rutherford into a tie for points for the 16's division with 2 more in town tournaments, and 3 more out of town tournaments to go. For all the scoop, check out the beach link on the Region's website.

 

Tough Babes Prove it in City Tournament

Some of Zia's 12-Tough Babes team came together again in a 4 on 4 sand volleyball tournament the City of Peoria in early June at Rio Vista and won the 12's division.

Candice Brimie, Julie Shaw, Courtney Ek and Kayla Palmo won the12 team tournament. Shaw and Palmo also won the ZVL title toping Courtney and Candice in the final. Congrats Ladies. Well done!

Zia's Beach Influence Felt Throughout Region Program at Halfway Point

Zia's beach contingent continues to dazzle in the 2007 Arizona Region Junior Beach Program.

With the week ending June 22, the program is half over. And at the halfway point, Zia's beach saavy girls have made their presence felt.

Jordan Smith is the overall points leader in the 14's division and Dana Gundrum is 5th.

                                                                     

In the 16's division, Zia is dominant with 9 players in the top 15 points earners. Katie Rutherford is second overall from two 1st place finishes and a second so far this season.  Allison Culley is 3rd in points overall, and Daryn Serna, Nikki Burke and Leah Bradley are all tied for 6th place in points. Madi Sowers, Emily Allen  and Gundrum are all tied for 7th place and Maggie Matheson comes in at 9th place.

                                                           

In the 18's division, Rutherford, Michele Anderson, Alee Eaton, Jenny Makowski and Bradley are all in the top 10 in points.

Zia's Excellence Highlighted in all 18's Beach Final

Seventeen year old Michele Anderson and her 16 year old partner Alee Eaton topped the 15's duo of Katie Rutherford and Holly Pavoggi in an all-Zia final at the Az. Region Junior Beach 18's tournament held June 7th at Victory Lanes.

The teams got past a field of 21 other teams. Congratulations Ladies.

          

Gundrum/Smith dominate Region's 14's Beach Field

The One Hit Wonders' Dana Gundrum and Jordan Smith topped off a field of 31 other teams en route to a 21-15 win in the gold medal match of the Arizona Region's Jr. Beach 14's tournament held at Victory Lanes on June 5th. Well done Ladies.
