The ZIA 15 KimT MISFITS
From Emily (Zia 15 -Misfits) The Misfits have become a lot STRONGER, BETTER, AND FASTER since our first couple of tournaments. We stepped out game up, and on April 12, we conquered something we have been trying to do all season. We won our FIRST Match of the tournament!!!! We ended up losing the other two in third game. We BATTLED with all our heart, gave everything. we have really learned how to play off each other's strengths and weaknesses. We have become a TEAM. We are ready to KICK BUTT at our next tournament and finally move up a division.
January 18th the Misfits headed to Tucson for the 2008 Cactus Classic. We arrived on Friday night at one of the nicest places to stay in Tucson, the RiverPark Inn. We had great accommodations with a terrific breakfast provided every morning at Benigans.
We all left the hotel Saturday morning to a crisp, cool temperature outside of 38. The very young Misfits started pool play against teams that were all 1 to 2 years older than them. Our girls were some what intimidated and showed some lack of confidence at first witch led to loosing the first 2 matches. Then “Rising to the occasion”, Coach Kim and Brie managed to get our girls over the losses and EXCITED!!! The Misfits really got fired up and then won the 3 out of the next 5 matches, playing great in all of them. It was a good first outing winning 3 out of 7 total matches for the tournament against older, more experienced teams. They made us all very proud!
Next the Misfits were back to Tucson on February 2nd for their first Club Tournament #1. The first match was against a pretty good Falcon 16-1 team. The girls played well but had to accept a close defeat in 3 games. Since we lost the first match, due to the tournament schedule structure, the best we could finish was 5th place. Accepting the challenge, the Misfits charged on, got really fired up once again and played great to win the next 2 matches in great style. 5th place is good but these girls can definitely do better, and will!!!!
Our young team has a lot of talent to build on and a good coaching staff witch leads this Parent to feel sure that the Misfits will finish the season as one of the top teams in the 16’s division. GO MISFITS!!!!!!!!
