BLUE CRUSH FINISH FIRST IN REGION CLUB # 2 TOURNAMENT
On Saturday Blue Crush started off the weekend with a win against Club Views 14’s. The first game was lead by Ally with 8 consecutive serves and from there the girls never looked back. In the second game we struggled a little with our serves, however Haley and Jimena had many great swings that kept up the momentum throughout the game. The second match was a little tougher, going to 3 games against Zona’s 13-1’s. With good serve receive passes from Becca and Miquie mixing up the sets we fell short 21-25. However, wanting to finish in the top 2 the girls took game two with great hits from Rylee and Brooke, and great sets and defense from Miquie. In game 3 we came out with another win with great hits from Kaitlin, Jimena and Ashley. Our third match against Arizona Primitive was won in two games. The girls all played very well together, deserving our first place finish.
AND THE CAPTAINS ARE…
Recently the Blue Crush players picked their team captains. After carefully consideration the players voted Hannah and Miquie captains. Hannah and Miquie were very excited and enthusiastically accepted the responsibilities that go along with being a captain.

TEAM SLEEPOVER
At our team party we had alot of fun. We made cool flip-flops in our team colors and had a "crazy sock" exchange. At night we ran outside and sang Christmas carols in Hannah's neighborhood. After midnight a few girls went to sleep, while the rest of us went crazy and played tag and hide-and-seek in the house. We were pretty loud and got in trouble a couple of times, but it was still fun. We tried to come up with nicknames for everyone, but it was harder than we thought. Overall, we ate alot of brownies, didn't sleep much and had a good time!.

AND THE WINNER IS: BLUE CRUSH
Zia 13 National went through the process of selecting a team name this week. It all started with 28 suggestions from the players. Of the 28 suggested names, Blue Crush, Volley Vipers, Net Threat, Skyhawks, TNT and Legacy survived the first round of voting. The second round of voting saw Blue Crush and Volley Vipers make the cut advancing to the final vote. By a vote of 6 to 5, Hannah’s suggestion of Blue Crush won out over Volley Vipers.

If I could have dinner with a famous person, living or dead, it would be Johnny Depp – I’d ask him to talk in his Jack Sparrow pirate accent. I love that movie!
My favorite food, drink and dessert are: Food – Cheese Pizza (Sardella’s or Papa John’s are good) Drink - Sprite Dessert – Vanilla Ice Cream Cone dipped in chocolate
My best friend is Devin O’Malley – She’s in 7th grade at my school. We are so much alike and we never get in fights.

My best friend is my cousin Darby because I am goofy with her and she makes me laugh and I always have fun hanging out with her.
My three goals that I am setting for myself are: 1 – how to do a killer serve 2 – how to do a killer spike 3 –to become more aggressive
My three goals that I am setting for the team are: 1 – to have a positive attitude towards each other 2 –to work as a team 3 –to go to nationals
My favorite volleyball player is Kerrie Walsh, because she is always going for the kill when she plays and she never gives up during a match. |

My best friend is Sara Marquette because we known each other since we were practically born! Our moms have been friends since 3rd grade and are still friends. We are a month a part and we were both were born in California then both moved to Arizona. We also share the same sport! (Volleyball) We are practically sisters!
The three goals that I am setting for myself are: 1 – Jump serve 2 –Learn how to approach 3 –Actually hit the ball with the approach technique

I have two best friends, one is my best friend Micaylah, and she just knows what to do in any situation and can help me with anything. My other best friend, Megan, is just like my sister we have everything in common even blond hair and blue eyes but she didn’t try out for Zia with me L but thats ok.
The 3 goals I’m setting for myself this year are: 1 – Setting higher 2 –Controlling the ball better 3 –Serving harder
The 3 goals that I am setting for the team are: 1 – Getting better and powerful 2 –Working as a team 3 – Do a bump, set and hit most of the time when we have the ball on our side in games or practice

If you could have dinner with a famous person, living or dead, it would be Drew Barrymore because she is a very talented actress and I like a lot of movies she is in.
My favorite food, drink and dessert are crab legs, orange crush soda and Mom’s homemade chocolate chip cookies
My best friend is Chelsea because we have so much in common and we have know each other for a long time.
The 3 goals that I am setting for myself are: 1 – To get my serves consistently over the net. 2 – To make my hits go strait down and that they are hard 3 – To work on digging a hard served ball.
The 3 goals that I am setting for the team are: 1 - To make sure we are loud and we always call the ball 2 – We all get our approaches down 3 – A big happy team that is supportive to one another.
My favorite volleyball player is Noel a High school volleyball player because she made the liberty high school varsity team in 9th grade and in 10th she won the player of the year award. |
